Summary[edit]

Description
English: Alford Market Place. On this day a film crew had set up and the stalls were representing an earlier era. They may have been mock stalls; I didn't have time to find out. The Parish Church of St Wilfrid, which can be seen in the background, was consecrated in 1350 and restored in 1867 when the north aisle and vestry was added. There is a small room above the porch which was the first home of the town’s Grammar School in the 16th-century. There is also in Alford a 100 ft, five-sailed windmill, known locally as Hoyle’s Mill, built over 160 years ago, and an 18th-century manor house and a brick church dating from 1826. The railway closed in 1970, but the station buildings still survive.
