English: Enrique Alferez 1930s sculpture "Fountain of the Winds", detail, Lakefront Airport, New Orleans
The fountain is dry and flood silted after Hurricane Katrina. Some time after the fountain was debuted, the male figure had its genitalia vandalized by a prude. Decades later Alferez, in his old age, restored the fountain. He said he made a point to make the genitalia larger than they had been originally to spite the spirit of the vandal. |
