Summary[edit]

Description
English: Alexei Rykov, Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars (Prime Minister) USSR. 1927. Context: He was (arguably) the most successful and the least known Prime Minister in the Soviet Union. Rykov was overseeing the period of GDP growth (1924-29) and civil liberties known as New Economic Policy. He clashed with Joseph Stalin in 1929 over the change of economic direction, namely the policy of forced collectivization and industrialization. Alexei Rykov lost his management post and was executed in 1938 following the show court case known as Trial of Twenty One.
