Summary[edit]

Description U.S. Navy members of Torpedo Squadron Ten (VT-10) pictured after the awards ceremony on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) during which they received the Distinguished Flying Cross for a night attack against Truk. VT-10 attacked the ships in Truk Lagoon using the radar of their TBF-1C Avengers. At 0410 hrs on 17 February, twelve TBF-1Cs were catapulted from the Enterprise. Damage assessment indicated that 13 of the 48 bombs dropped sunk two oilers and six cargo ships, with six additional cargo ships damaged. One plane was lost.
