Summary[edit]
DescriptionAiraines4.jpg |
English: A montage of photographs taken early in March 2010 of Albert Roze's "monument aux morts" in the commune of Airaines in the Somme region of France. It is a well composed composition and has the last line of a Victor Hugo poem carved above the relief showing a dying French soldier with an angel above him. Roze was an Amiens sculptor who was responsible for contributions to many "monument aux morts" in Picardy. It was the agreed practice that local sculptors be used wherever possible when it came to selecting sculptors to work on "monument aux morts". |
