Summary[edit]

Description

This year there was a static display of a USAF A-10 on the ramp. The A-10 was designed and built by Fairchild-Republic and is designed as a close air support. It is heavily armored and heavily armed and is perfect for attack tanks, artillary, and being a forward air controller.

The rugged design earned this aircraft the nickname "Warthog" very early in its career, as it lacks the graceful lines of most aircraft. The A-10 has been in service since the 1970s and the military expects them to continue to be used until 2020 and beyond.
