Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Larger Shiva Temple, Gedong Songo III.

The south niche is occupied by Agastya, a legendary missionary of Shiva in India who eventually became regarded as an avatar of the god himself. The potbellied and bearded guru stands on a lotus throne. His arms and the attributes they once carried are broken off, but a clear outline of Shiva's trident is visible at the statue's proper left side.
