Description
English: Aerial view of Mertert, Luxembourg, on 25 January 1945. At right is the river Mosel with Germany on the right. The Syre flows into the Mosel south of Mertert. Wasserbillig station is in the upper center, where the lines Wasserbillig (border to Germany) - Luxembourg of the Société royale Grand-Ducale de Guillaume-Luxembourg (GL) and the Ettelbruck-Grevenmacher of the Société des chemins de fer Prince-Henri (PH) met. The PH line comes from from Grevenmacher south of Mertert. It crosses the GL-line at Wasserbillig to the north-west to follow the river Sûre/Sauer. The GL line crosses the Sûre/Sauer on the border to Germany and follows the small river Syre to the south-west towards the City of Luxembourg.
