English: An NPS employee operates a tractor in an open dirt field. The equipment has a front-end attachment with a tines along a rotor, just above the soil and below a trough. An employee uses a combination aerator and seed spreader to prepare the orchard area for planting. The aerator is an alternative to a more disruptive method of tilling in order to protect archeological resources. The seeding establishes a cover crop.
