The workers were protesting the closure for almost a year of the factory and the fact that previous private companies that ran the factory did not pay up to 20 monthly wages.

| Description |
English: The state police in Tirana called the protest illegal due to COVID-19 measures, even though the protesting workers and activists were wearing masks and maintaining the distance. Miners from the north of the country had joined the protest in solidarity. The protesters clashed with the police when they tried to disperse the crowd employing unnecessary violence. A number of activists and workers were arrested and later set free.
Shqip: Policia e Shtetit në Tiranë e quajti protestën të paligjshme për shkak të masave COVID-19, edhe pse punëtorët dhe aktivistët protestues kishin veshur maska dhe mbanin distancën. Minatorë nga veriu i vendit ishin bashkuar në protestë për solidaritet. Protestuesit u përplasën me policinë kur kjo e fundit u përpoq të shpërndante turmën duke përdorur dhunë të panevojshme. Një numër aktivistësh dhe punëtorësh u arrestuan dhe më vonë u lanë të lirë. |
