Description

White paper with typed black text

Memorandum To: Superintendent, Gettysburg From: Acting Assistant Regional Director, Northeast Region Subject: Proposed Memorial Design by Donald DeLue, Gettysburg In our memorandum to the Director dated June 23, you will note the reference to courses of action pertaining to items 2 and 3. This required data, we believe, should be obtained from the two organizations prior to our authorizing the placing of this monument on the battlefield. We suggest, therefore, that it would be in order for you to inform them of these statements needed to clarify and authenticate items 2 and 3. These organizations can work directly with you and your staff in reaching an acceptable solution at which time you can forward this with your recommendations to this office. Our files contain no formal request from either the United Daughters of the Confederacy or the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. We believe we should have on file a formal request from these two organizations as well as their approval of the plans which have been presented and identified as NMP-GET-NER-9016 in our correspondence to the Director.
