O histórico avião Universal - panoramio.jpg | Academia da Força Aérea (AFA) em Pirassununga/SP. Aviões de treinamento dos cadetes da Academia, o T-25 Universal e o T-27 Tucano. O histórico avião Universal foi desenvolvido pela Indústria Aeronáutica Neiva na década de 1960, com a incumbência de substituir os T-6 na instrução dos Cadetes da Força Aérea Brasileira. Com a introdução dos EMBRAER T-27 Tucano em 1983, os aviões Universal tiveram uma diminuição das horas de instrução de voo. Atualmente os Cadetes da AFA fazem a instrução básica de voo no T-25 (Universal) no primeiro ano de curso e no quarto ano (último ano) realizam a instrução avançada a bordo dos T-27 Tucano. A Esquadrilha da Fumaça, que foi desativada em 1976 com a aposentadoria dos lendários T-6, renasceu em 1980 com 4 aviões Neiva T-25, sendo chamada de "Cometa branco" e a primeira demonstração com os T-25 foi em 10 de julho de 1980, na entrega dos espadins aos cadetes que haviam ingressado na AFA. Em 1983, com a chegada dos T-27 Tucano, os históricos T-25 foram retirados da Esquadrilha. Após 55 demonstrações, os "Tangões" passaram a incorporar a famosa Fumaça e, em 21 de outubro de 1982, era criado o Esquadrão de Demonstração Aérea (EDA), em 8 de dezembro de 1983, os Tucanos voaram pela primeira vez, se despedindo da Fumaça em 2013. O Neiva Regente e o Neiva Universal foram os primeiros aviões metálicos produzidos no Brasil. Estes projetos criaram normas e padrões para a iniciante indústria aeronáutica brasileira, preparando o caminho para a EMBRAER. | ||
