| Description |
English: Abandoned quarry near Penwyllt Climb high enough around here and look at the surrounding landscape and you will realise that every rock face you can see in the whole area was once a quarry. They are everywhere. This one is now grassed over. It is part of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Ogof Ffynnon Ddu nature reserve.
To the left of shot the lower shelves of rock have brown discolouration. The entire horizontal strata is leaking ground water from between two layers. I imagne that if the strata were tilted downhill this water would have caused a huge landslip by now. |
