Well, this is certainly not your average abandoned car! This C5 Corvette was made from 1997 to 2004. I'm intrigued as to how and why this one came to be sinking into the gravel here in Greece. Certainly was, and still is a valuable car, and extremely collectable. Fuel prices have risen considerably in Greece in recent years, and this car has a thirsty 5.7 litre V8 engine, which might be a factor contributing towards its current situation. I expect if this was back home, it would've been vandalised considerably, with all the badges and alloys nicked, but youths in Greece must do something else more worthwhile. I can tell this one's been left here a while due to the weeds (these would take a year minimum to grow this big in this dry country) and also by seeing how rusty the brake discs are. This one I believe is a coupe model, so not even a basic one. Was a proper shock to see one in a state like this. Has anyone else seen one of these abandoned? |
