Summary[edit]

Description

Palayur Church in Trichur District, Kerala is an important pilgrimage centre for Syrian or St. Thomas Christians of Kerala. According to tradition, St. Thomas the Apostle travelled to India and landed at Kodungallur near Cochin and spread the Gospel in Kerala.

Though the Church building has undergone renovations and expansion several times, Palayur Church is believed to be the oldest church in India, in the local Christian tradition.
