THE X-RAY TREATMENT OF LUPUS 417 * 3.—Lupus of eight years standing, whicli had resisted varioustreatments. Diagnosis of lupus vulgaris was substantiated by path-ological examination of a specimen taken from the left cheek.Treatment same as before up to tenth seance. A severe dermatitisthen developed on the back of the patients right hand, which hehad been in the habit of resting upon the table directly under thetube. The dorsum of the hand was swollen and intensely red, withsevere burning pain. In a few days blebs formed very much afterthe manner of an ordinary burn. The hand was dressed with zincstearate dry, and kept so with ordinary bandages. Immediate im-provement resulted. The pain lessened, swelling disappeared, theskin peeled in large patches, and was at once replaced with soundskin.
