nd its eyes. Oh, mamma, see its mother helpingit get into the water! Isnt she a good mother ? and sohe went on. He was talking all the time. I couldntunderstand what he meant half of the time, and I wishedso much I could see it all. Once he said, Oh, mamma,see the baby tiger winking to me! Isnt he beautiful ?(I wonder what winking means.) I heard him talk of polar-bears, grizzly-bears, prairie-dogs, and hyenas, camels, and dromedaries, and I reallycant remember what all. I remember he said, Mam-ma, dont you think the camel is beautiful ? I do. Seethe way he moves. He seemed to pity the animalsthat were in cages. He couldnt understand why theyhad to be brought away from their homes just to letpeople know what they look like. I heard his mammasay that she didnt believe God meant it to be so, andI believe she is right. I felt sure she would be good tome and feed me after hearing that.
