Description
English: Two fragments of a silver cut halfpenny of Coenwulf, king of Mercia from 796 to 821. Group I (without portrait) = 796 - c. 805. Transitional types. The central letter may be a Greek ω as part of an Alpha and Omega insignia or a similarly styled overbar m intending Merciae ("[King] of Mercia") or Merciorum ("[King] of the Mercians").
