l show the general design ofthe buildings. The waiting room, ticket office, sub station andfreight house are combined in the same building. This is nowthe practice of the Illinois Traction System as it avoids thenecessity of two men to a station. Neither the work of the sub-station, nor the passenger station, at these stations, is suchas to require the entire services of an attendant and by placingboth in the one building one man can attend to both. The buildings are constructed of red brick with concretefloors and reinforced concrete ceilings. They are seventy feetdeep by twenty feet wide and are set back from the tracks acrossthe sidewalk line. The dimensions of the sub-stations properare; length 30 feet, breadth 20 feet and heighth 21.5 feet. As stated above the stations, as installed, were identi-cal as regards the electrical apparatus. Each had a capacity of400 K.W., there being two 260 K.W., 25 cycle, General Electrictransformers installed. These are wound and connected to st«P
