The town is chieflybuilt of brick. Manufactures.—Within a few years,the amount and variety of manufactureshave greatly increased. The principalbusiness is done in heavy iron castings,for steam-engines and machinery. Agreat deal of cabinet-work is also pro-duced, and numerous steamboats andcanal-boats are built every year. TheCincinnati Manufacturing Company havea collection of large buildings on DeerCreek. Great quantities of pork are preparedand shipped at Cincinnati. In 1848,not less than 500,000 hogs were killedin the city.
