718 SURGERY OF THE EXTREMITIES order to permit the filling of all lateral sinuses and irregularities connectedwith the sinus through Avhieh the mass is injected. 5th. If there are several external openings, the paste should be injoctedthrough one of these, and as soon as it appears at one of the other openings,this should be closed and the injection should be continued until it appearsat the next one, when this also should be closed with the finger, and so on,until the paste has successively appeared at all of the openings, which willindicate that it has penetrated all of the bifurcations. 6th. The injection should be made at first every two or three days, then,as the discharge decreases, once a week. Later, once in two weeks, then inthree, and then in four weeks, but always with the same care in application. We have applied this method in hundreds of cases and consider it one ofthe best aids that we have in surgery, but the work must be done by thesurgeon himself, or by an experience
