of course, be noticed that the precedingfloral divisions are almost exactly those given forclimate. The Westerly Wet Flora occupies verynearly the Oil-palm region of the west coast, andthe Easterly Wet Flora the Oil or Cocoanut zoneon the east coast. The Central Ridge and its branch to the Masaihighlands contain the remaining climatic regions,viz., Coffee zone, Colony zone, and Cloud belt,but of course in every sub-division these are diffe-rently represented. The division of Africa is, in fact, the same, as ofcourse it should be, whether one divides it accord-ing to the meteorology, botany, or economical facts.Materials are, however, non-existent to give satis- BOTANY. 225 factory definitions of the sub-districts. Even inthe botany, which has been more studied than theother two sciences, I only know of three collec-tions worth mentioning on the Central Ridge andRuwenzori. There is a curious similarity between SouthAmerica and Africa which may, perhaps, be ex-plained by meteorologists.
