Description
English: A housewife with a shopping basket full of bananas after a visit to the Co-Op store on Westhorne Avenue, Eltham in London, 1940.
With her husband at work, and her children at school, Mrs Suter carries out the day's chores. Here we see Mrs Suter with her shopping basket full of bananas after a visit to the Co-Op on Westhorne Avenue, Eltham. Posters in the shop window advertise the price of bacon, sugar and 'National Butter', and reassure customers that they will receive their dividend points as usual on both rationed and unrationed goods. Another poster encourages customers to register there under the food rationing scheme. Two small children can just be seen in a pram outside the shop. This photograph was taken in the summer of 1940.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
