Text Appearing After Image:
Description of the Edifice 461 apse, and its apex lifts its cross against the base of thecentral lancet of the chancel. It bears on its salientpoints interesting bits of sculpture; but the chief sculp-tural feature are two angels, designed in high relief,with outspread wings, kneeling above the retable inadoration of the cross, which forms the background ofthe Reredos. These devout and beautiful figures weremodelled by Mr. Louis St. Gaudens in the studio ofhis brother, Auguste, and are a significant product ofrecent religious art. The north buttress of the Reredosbears the following Inscription: To the glory of God and in sacred and loving memory of Elizabeth McClintock Pruyn, Born Oct. Jist. i8^j, evermore at Rest Dec. 20th, 1SS4.
