now living in virtual retirement at Normal,Kentucky, is a man of unusual vigor and keenbusiness acumen. He is widely known andrespected both on account of his ability andgenial kindliness of spirit and as a citizenhis loyalty and public spirit have ever been ofthe most insistent order. Alordecai Williams was born in Greenupcounty, now Boyd county, Kentucky, on the20th of December, 1835, a son of AlarcusLindsey and Elizabeth (Kring) Williams,both of whom were born and reared in thestate of Pennsylvania. The Williams fam-ily is of Scotch-Irish descent and prior to thewar of the Revolution three brothers of thename came to America, locating respectivelyin Pennsylvania, Alaryland and Virginia. Hewhose name introduces this paragraph is arepresentative of the Pennsylvania branch.Alarcus Williams, father of Alordecai. wasborn in 1813, in the old Keystone state of theUnion, whence he accompanied his parentsas an infant to Lawrence county, Ohio.
