| Description | A far view of one of the floating fishing villages on the Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. A visit to one of these was suggested, but was never implemented. While notes about the fishing villages appear in the next caption, our guide had informed us that many of these fishing villages had been asked to move out, in order the protect the environment and to keep the fish population at sustainable levels. While I may agree with the later half of this, (keeping fish populations sustainable), I certainly do not think the environment protection aspect holds true- just look at the hundreds of large cruise boats all around, discharging their effluents and waste into the pristine waters! (Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, Nov. 2016) |
