Summary[edit]

Description
English: A door to nowhere I wouldn’t fancy using this door in an emergency. The door is situated in a curved external wall of the former Laidlaw and Fairgrieve Mill in Galashiels (originally built as Ladhope Mill) that has been demolished to make way for new flats. The former upper floor level of the mill can be traced along by the underside of the door and a lower floor level is also visible on the wall face. The door has access to a public footpath on the other side of the wall at High Buckholmside, but with a drop of about 1.2m, and was an emergency fire exit door when the mill was operational. This area of the mill used to be known locally as L&F’s Corner and during hot weather, mill workers used to keep the door open.
