Description

In the midst of the violence in the Central African Republic (CAR), hundreds of thousands of children have been forced from school. "Child-friendly spaces" like this one to the north of the country provide a sanctuary and some safety from the violence.

The UK is providing emergency healthcare, clean water, food, agricultural inputs and logistical support to hundreds of thousands of people across CAR in response to the severe escalation in the humanitarian crisis.

A £10 million UK support package announced this week will allow the Red Cross, UN and international aid agencies to dramatically step up their relief programmes as the ongoing fighting and risk of harvest failure is likely to create a severe food crisis in the coming months.
