Русский: Коллекция Терезы Кристины Марии включает в себя 21 742 фотографии, собранные императором Педру II (1825-1891 гг.) в течение его жизни и завещанные им Национальной библиотеке Бразилии. В коллекции представлены фотографии различной тематики. В ней отображены достижения Бразилии и бразильцев в XIX веке, в нее также включены многочисленные фотографии из Европы, Африки и Северной Америки. В 1862 году правительство Испании, по указу королевы Изабеллы II, направило группу натуралистов в Южную Америку с целью сбора экспонатов для музеев Испании. Это предприятие было известно под названием Научная комиссия по изучению тихоокеанского региона. Рафаэль Кастро-и-Ордоньес, художник в составе научной комиссии, запечатлел это путешествие в фотографиях, на которых отображено этническое и культурное разнообразие европейских континентов в середине XIX века. Français : La collection Thereza Christina Maria se compose de 21 742 photographies réunies par l'Empereur Pedro II sa vie durant ; il les a léguées à la Bibliothèque nationale du Brésil. Cette collection couvre une vaste gamme de sujets. Elle documente les réalisations du Brésil et du peuple brésilien au 19e siècle, et comprend également de nombreuses photographies d'Europe, d'Afrique et d'Amérique du nord. En 1862, le gouvernement d'Espagne, sous le règle d'Isabelle II, a envoyé une équipe de naturalistes en Amérique du Sud afin de rassembler des objets pour des musées espagnols. Cette expédition est connue sous le nom de Commission scientifique du Pacifique. English: The Thereza Christina Maria collection is composed of 21,742 photos assembled by Emperor Pedro II (1825-91) throughout his life and donated by him to the National Library of Brazil. The collection covers a wide variety of subjects. It documents the achievements of Brazil and Brazilians in the 19th century and also includes many photographs of Europe, Africa, and North America. In 1862, the government of Spain under Queen Isabella II sent a team of naturalists to South America to collect objects for Spanish museums. The endeavor was known as the Scientific Commission of the Pacific. Rafael Castro y Ordonez, a draftsman on the commission, documented the trip in photographs, producing a pictorial record of the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Americas in the mid-19th century. This photograph was taken in the coastal state of Bahia. One of Brazil’s centers of sugar cultivation, it was also the home of most of the country’s slaves.

A coleção abrange uma ampla variedade de temas. Documenta as conquistas do Brasil e do povo brasileiro no século XIX, e também inclui muitas fotografias da Europa, África e da América do Norte. Em 1862, o governo da Espanha, sob a Rainha Isabella II, enviou uma equipe de naturalistas para a América do Sul para coletar objetos para os museus espanhóis. A missão ficou conhecida como a Comissão Científica do Pacífico. Rafael Castro y Ordóñez, um desenhista da comissão, documentou a viagem em fotografias, produzindo um registro pictórico da diversidade étnica e cultural das Américas, em meados do século XIX. Esta fotografia foi feita no estado litorâneo da Bahia. Um dos centros de cultivo de açúcar do Brasil, foi também lar para a maioria dos escravos do país.
