These cages were dropped by a 9 foot parachute from an L5 plane to troops of the 71st Division operating on maneuvers at H L M R. This method is employed to supply troops operating in difficult terrain. Both the 71st and 89th Divisions as supplied by the 1st Combat Section, 1st Platoon, 263rd Sig Pigeon Company.
