An Arizona Ash tree died and was cut down, leaving a large stump with a diameter of 44 inches. The stump was set on fire in the center. The way the fire burns shows an interesting root structure and the flames formed an image of a Phoenix.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: An Arizona Ash tree was cut down, leaving a large stump with a diameter of 44 inches. The stump was set on fire in the center and the fire grabbed hold of the inner roots, burning outward in three directions. Out of the stump of a dead Arizona Ash tree, the image of a Phoenix appeared in the flames.

In Greek mythology, a Phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Some legends say it dies in a show of flames and combustion, others that it simply dies and decomposes before being born again.

The Arizona Ash is a fast growing tree, which gives them a tendency to develop surface roots. Although the roots of ash trees often grow close to the surface, they are usually tolerant of both alkaline and rocky soils. The fast growing tree requires pruning regularly so that its branches do not get tangled up, causing frequent branch dieback. Ash wood is greatly valued for its strength and elasticity and is often used for bows, tool handles, and other products that require durability, strength, and resilience. The ash tree can symbolize longevity and endurance, as well as productivity.

Despite the 40 year old Arizona Ash tree's resilience and productivity that were shown on the outside during its growing, it wasn't until after it died and was cut down that an image emerges on the inside. After what remained had been set on fire, a Phoenix could be seen rising up, ready to receive a crown of beauty instead of ashes.
