GEORGE HICKS ON WAR SAVINGS I am making this special appeal to all workers in the building and civil engineering industry to set themselves the task of saving and lending to the Country at least £1,000,000 within the next six months. The sum will buy for our fighting men one hundred of those TANKS of which we are in such great need and which are being supplied in increasing numbers for the purpose of Hurling Hitler Back. The need for more and more War Savings is Vital to the war effort, like the Job on which you are working now, and I ask you to look on the job of saving as one which you can do as well. You are all eager to play your full part in the war activity, and in addition to working hard and well you have the chance to put something by for the better days that are coming September 1941 Sincerely Yours George Hicks B.P.2. [edit]This image is in the public domain because it is a mere mechanical scan or photocopy of a public domain original, or – from the available evidence – is so similar to such a scan or photocopy that no copyright protection can be expected to arise. The original itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag. |
