Русский: В одном из предисловий к своим работам автор Сюй Шувэй (1079–1154 гг.) упоминает некоего Хуа То, ученого, родившегося около 140 года нашей эры в период правления династии Хань, который, увидев, как много людей погибает от эпидемий, голода и войн, решил оставить карьеру ученого и стать врачом. Xu Shuwei écrit à la première personne : « Chaque fois que je pense au manque de bons médecins et aux patients résignés à mourir, je me demande comment une personne capable peut rester les bras croisés et ne pas prêter assistance. J'ai donc renoncé à ma renommée d'intellectuel pour étudier la médecine. Désormais au crépuscule de ma vie, j'ai collecté des archives du passé. J'ai écrit une centaine de chansons, rassemblées dans Shang han bai zheng ge (Cent vers sur les manifestations des troubles du froid nocif), et l'ouvrage en deux juan Shang han fa wei lun (Révélations sur les subtilités du froid nocif), puis je les ai fait imprimer pour les diffuser auprès des lecteurs ». Xu fut également l'auteur de 81 essais sur les traitements, ainsi que d'un manuel sur le pouls, avec 36 illustrations, inspiré de l'œuvre sur le diagnostic par le pouls de Zhang Zhongjing (actif de 168 à 196), médecin de la dynastie Han de l'Est. L'ouvrage présenté ici est une édition manuscrite avec une préface de Xu. Il est composé de cinq chapitres contenant 20 vers chacun. Médecine chinoise English: In one of the prefaces to his works, the author Xu Shuwei (1079–1154) describes a certain Hua Tuo, a scholar born around 140 AD during the Han dynasty, who, after seeing many people die in epidemics, famines, and wars, chose to abandon scholarship to pursue a medical career. Referring to himself, Xu Shuwei writes, “every time I think of the lack of good physicians and of patients who are resigned to die, how could someone with capability sit by and not help? Therefore I have buried my fame as a scholar and pursue medicine. Now, at the twilight of my life, I have collected records of the past and written a hundred songs, entitled Shang han bai zheng ge (A hundred verses on manifestations of cold damage disorders), as well as the work Shang han fa wei lun (Subtleties of cold damage revealed), in two juan, and had them printed so that they will spread among the people.” Among Xu’s other works are 81 essays on treatments and a manual on pulse, with 36 illustrations, based on the work of the Eastern Han-dynasty physician Zhang Zhongjing (flourished 168–96) on pulse diagnosis. The present work is a manuscript edition with a preface by Xu. It is in five chapters, each containing 20 verses. The verse form, intended to make the text easier to understand and remember, greatly contributed to its dissemination and popularization. In some places, brief annotations were added. These were mostly attributed to Zhang Zhongjing, who also made references to other texts. The copy has two inscriptions by the Qing bibliophile Huang Pilie (1763–1825), which indicate that he owned two other copies of this Yuan edition.

中国医学 Português: Em um dos prefácios desta obra, o autor Xu Shuwei (1079 a 1154) descreve um certo Hua Tuo, um estudioso nascido por volta de 140 d.C. na dinastia Han, que, após ver várias pessoas morrerem em epidemias, crises de fome e guerras, escolhe abandonar os estudos em busca de uma carreira médica. Referindo-se a si mesmo, Xu Shuwei diz “toda vez que penso sobre a falta de bons médicos e sobre os pacientes fadados a morrer, não compreendo como é possível que haja alguém com capacidade para ajudar, mas não o faça? Portanto, abandonei minha fama como estudioso para me educar na medicina. Agora, no crepúsculo de minha vida, eu coletei registros do passado e escrevi uma centena de canções, chamadas Shang han bai zheng ge (Cem versos sobre a manifestação dos distúrbios causados pelo frio), bem como a obra Shang han fa wei lun (Sutilezas reveladas dos danos causados pelo frio), em dois juan, imprimindo-os de modo que possam se espalhar entre o povo”.
