The superior frontal convolution(3> 3? 3) consists of two minor divisions,one of which blends with the upper partof the first ascending convolution; theother bounds the great longitudinal fissureanteriorly. (The middle and superior convolutionsare so intimately connected that it isoften difficult to distinguish betweenthem.) Gratiolet observed these convolutionsin their simplest form in idiots ; those onthe right and left side presenting a re-markable symmetry. Such symmetryis never observed in the normal brain ofthe white man. The superior convolution,twisted in a thousand directions and oftendivided into two secondary ones, is neverlike its fellow.
