English: The governor of Brazil, Johan Maurits of Nassau-Siegen, drives out the Portuguese. The scene shows the capture of the fort of Povaçon, or Boaventura near Porto Calvo in 1637. The fort subsequently remained in the hands of the West India Company until 1645.
