DescriptionAFSPC helos, crews support JTF Katrina (2000551174).jpg |
English: COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. – Air Force Space Command deployed several UH-1N helicopters and crews to Columbus AFB, in support of Hurricane Katrina operations. The Helos came from F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo.; Malmstrom AFB, Mont.; Minot AFB, N.D., and Vandenberg AFB, Calif. The crews fly operations day and night as the 620th Air Expeditionary Squadron to provide rescue, recovery and relief efforts. As of Sept. 6, the 620th has flown 22 sorties, registered 1 save and delivered 14,050 pounds of food, water and medical supplies to displaced Americans in Mississippi. This is the first time Air Force Space Command has deployed helicopters outside their day-to-day missile field operations. (Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Molly A. Gilliam) |
