English: Portland Canal near foot of 11th St.
Towboat "Lenard" preparing to raise and move one of the anchors attached to the guy wires of the cutterhead dredge "Bill Holman" (in right distance). Two guy wires (one on each side) are used to swing the dredge back and forth as it moves forward. The anchors for these guy wires need to be moved often, and the "Lenard" is equipped with a sheerleg crane for this purpose. Twin-screw towboat "Lenard" (doc. # 531997, length 46 feet, breadth 18 feet, Cat 3406 diesels, repowered 1989, 600 hp.) Built in 1971 by Barbour Metal Boat Works, St. Louis, Missouri Owned by Luhr Bros., Inc., Columbia, Illinois Ohio River mile 605 Louisville, Ky. 31-Jul-2004. A4G010. |
