English: Workboat "Buddy" with head of tow of "Transporter", upbound approaching McAlpine Locks.

At left are cables which raise and lower the cutterhead of the dredge "Bill Holman". Downriver end of Sand Island at right.

Twin screw towboat "Buddy" (doc. # 630004, length 50 feet, breadth 20 feet, Caterpillar 3408 diesels, 730 hp) This boat has a pair of sheerlegs and a winch at the bow, allowing it to hoist and move the anchors which enable the dredge to swing from side to side Built in 1980 by Serodino, Guild, Tennessee Owned by Luhr Bros., Columbia, Illinois Still operating in 2018 .
