Towboat "Wm. H. Zimmer" downbound. Lift span of L&I Bridge at right. Snow on the ground and in the air. . Twin screw towboat "Wm. H. Zimmer" (doc. # 290088, length 164.5 feet, width 41.5 feet, Fairbanks-Morse 38D 8-1/8 diesels, 4000 hp). Built in 1962 by St. Louis Shipbuilding & Steel Co., St. Louis, Missouri. Originally "Wm. H. Zimmer", owned by Midland Enterprises, Inc., Nashville, Tennessee, and operated by Ohio River Company, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio, until 1984. Operated by R & W Marine, Inc., Paducah, Kentucky from 1984 to 1986. Sold to Excell Marine Corp., Cincinnati, Ohio, and renamed "R.L. Griffith" in 2004. Sold to Marquette Transportation Co. LLC, Paducah, Kentucky, in 2007. Renamed "Charlie G" in 2008. Repowered in 2008 with GM 16-645E7B diesels, 6140 hp. Still operating in 2017. . Ohio River mile 605. Louisville, Kentucky. Jan. 20, 2001. file # a1a029. .
