הערות: הגן הבוטני הראשון בישראל הוקם ע"י אלכסנדר איג בקמפוס האוניברסיטה העברית בהר הצופים. הגן הבוטני החדש נפתח ב1954 בקמפוס בגבעת רם וב 1962 הועתק למקומו העכשווי ונפתח רשמית לציבור ב 1985. בתחילת שנות ה-90 נבנה בדרום הגן אגם מלאכותי. בגן למעלה מ-7,000 מינים וזנים של צמחים שונים מרחבי בשש חלקות גאוגרפיות המדמות את נופי הצומח של כל אזור: אפריקה הדרומית, אירופה, אמריקה הצפונית, אוסטרליה, דרום-מערב ומרכז אסיה, אגן הים התיכון. לצידן חממות לפי סוגי אקלים: חממה טרופית, חממה מדברית, חממת צמחים מושכי פרפרים
