Summary[edit]

Description The styrofoam coffee cup was sent down on a submersible to the wreck of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5) which sunk on 7 June 1942 during the Battle of Midway. The cup was illustrated by Bill Surgi, a survivor of the battle. It is signed by Mr. Surgi and Dr. Robert Ballard. Cup reads: "USS Yorktown CV-5/ revisted/ 19th May 1998."
