Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_88940_DSC01673.JPG Notes: בית הכנסת הוקם ,בשנות ה-30 של המאה ה-20 ,בידי יהודים חרדים, תלמידיו של הרב שמשון רפאל הירש וחניכי שיטת תורה עם דרך ארץ, שעלו ארצה בעלייה החמישית והתיישבו בירושלים. קבוצה זו ייסדה מוסדות נוספים, בהם בית הספר חורב וישיבת קול תורה. בשנות התשעים נסגר בית הכנסת בשל הזדקנות הקהילה. בשנת 2003 חודש המניין על ידי קבוצה מתושבי השכונה וכיום משמש בית הכנסת מקום תפילה ופעילות תורנית למאות מתפללים מדי שבוע. לאחר רכישת מבנה הקבע לקהילה נבחר השם "חורב" על שם ספרו הראשון של הרש"ר הירש.(ויקיפדיה)
