Summary[edit]

Description
English: 888 17th Street NW in Washington, D.C., in the United States. Also known as the Brawner Building (after the real estate development company which built and owns the structure), this 12-story, Modernist office building was designed by Vlastimil Koubek and finished in 1963.
  • The facade is made of dark bronzed aluminum brackets and casements which hold the bronze, solarized glass in place. Light-colored bronzed aluminum panels are set beneath each window, and similarly-colored vertical aluminum ribbing enhances the structure's verticality.
  • This image is a detail of the light-color bronze ribbing, showing how it is held in place with brackets. The short rib rails are not connected in any way, and some of the ribs have separated from one another due to expansion and contraction of the building due to hot and cold weather.
