Description 80-G-27199: Guadalcanal Campaign, August 1942 to February 1943. A A Left to right: Lieutenant Colonel Richard C. Mangrum; Captain Marion E. Carl, and Major John L. Smith, USMC Aviators, who were interviewed concerning their action in the Guadalcanal area. Lieutenant Colonel Mangrum was in command of a dive-bomber squadron. Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/12/06).
