Accession 67-415-AB Direction Theodolite 26"H x 10"Dia Brass Theodolites were used as surveying instruments. This example dates from circa 1840. It is engraved "E. & G. W. Blunt / New York / Improved by Richard Patten & Son, Washington City." The Blunts had a shop in New York from 1824 until 1866 and Patten and son had a shop in Washington DC in the 1840's, dating this piece to the 1840's. Collection of Curator Branch, Naval History and Heritage Command. |
