636th Military Intelligence Battalion Coat of Arms

Description/Blazon

Shield

Per bend Argent (Silver Gray) and Azure (Oriental Blue), a griffin's head erased Sable and a mullet Argent.

Crest

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Texas Army National Guard. From a wreath Argent and Azure (Oriental Blue), a mullet Argent encircled by a garland of live oak and olive Proper.

Motto

LONE STAR VIGILANCE.

Symbolism

Shield

Oriental blue and silver gray are the colors traditionally used by Military Intelligence. The griffin embodies vigilance, alertness and courage, reflecting the unit's motto and mission. Black and white symbolize overt and covert operations and the night and day, twenty-four hour mission of Military Intelligence. The star highlights the motto and represents the home area of the battalion, Texas.

Crest

The crest is that of the Texas Army National Guard.

Background

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 649th Military Intelligence Battalion on 10 October 1996. It was redesignated effective 1 May 2004, for the 636th Military Intelligence Battalion.
