Title
5A27D2b.jpg
Description
English: Copper alloy finger ring. V sectioned band which is narrow at the back and expands into the angled shoulders. The shoulders are decorated with incised chevrons along a central line (four in the left and five on the right). Sub circular bezel with four small projections (two on each side where the shoulders join the bezel). On the bezel is a raised, flat topped sub-oval disc with inscribed initials AVF. These may be an abbreviated greeting or represent a personal name. Ralph Jackson at the British Museum suggests that AF may represent the name and the F may stand for filius (son) as there is a gap between the V and F.
