Summary[edit]
| Description | 51 Bond Street between Lafayette Street and the Bowery was built c.1830 and was designed in the Federal and Greek Revival styles by an unknown architect. It was originally a 3 1/2-story dwelling, it became a boardinghouse, and then a private dwelling again, before being converted to commercial use. The Metaphysical University occupied part of the building by 1885, and by 1916 it was converted to lofts and offices, before becoming a mixed-use building with artists lofts by 1959. It is located within the NoHo Historic District as part of the 2008 extension. (Source: "NoHo Historic District Extension Designation Report") |
