English: IWM caption : 4th East Lancashire Regiment in the trenches at Nieuport Bains, the extreme left of the line. The sergeant in the foreground is watching the German line in a periscope fixed on his bayonet.
English: (While captioned as 4th East Lancashire, given the location this is probably 2/4th East Lancashire, part of 66th Division. 1/4th was with 42nd Division, based inland at this time.)
