Summary[edit]

Description
English: Science has always been developed within technology's framework and so new technologies are improving our understanding of complex biological systems. In protein science structure determines function of these biopolimers, but their size prevents us from seeing proteins so scientist have to model proteins' structer in order to study them. 3D printing technologies are helping to overcome the traditional barries of three-dimentional representation on a two-dimentional screen. In the photo we can see different models of various proteins, mostly of them mutants of HIV's gp41 surface protein, whose understanding can potentially lead to a treatment of its deasease, for example the little green molecule at the center right of the picture is a possible drug wich binds to a hydrophobic pocket of a gp41 single-chain mutant.
